Rays of Light

I love sharing with you the the unique ways God reveals life lessons to me. If you’ve been reading Encouraging Words for a little while, you know I find God speaking and revealing His love and lessons for life all the time. Today, I read a beautiful analogy I just have to share with you! It’s from the book Holiness Revealed by Amy Reardon. It’s based on Hebrews 1:3, “The Son is the light of God’s glory and the imprint of God’s being. He maintains everything with his powerful message. After he carried out the cleansing of people from their sins, he sat down at the right side of the highest majesty.”

– There’s a poetic symbolism when we use rays of light as an illustration. We all need the sun for our survival; we need its light and it’s warmth. But it is too bright, too far, too hot – we can’t reach up and grab the sun. The beams that radiate it’s light solve our problem. They bring us the light and warmth we need without burning us. Just as a ray of the sun reaches down from its source to the earth below, Christ reaches down and overcomes the colossal divide between God and man. While being God Himself, He stretched down and met us where we are – all the while sparing us from viewing His full shekinah glory, which is too brilliant for human beings to behold. As Christ shines upon us, He reveals the glory of God and bathes us in it! –

Preach it, Amy, preach it! May the light of Jesus warm your life today.
