Go Billy, Go!

When I was a little kid (a long, long time ago!), I had a spring connected rocking horse on a bent tube frame. That thing was awesome! At first, I was a little intimidated and very gently took to sitting on it. After hours and hours of ‘hard ridin’, I was able to make the horses nose and tail nearly touch the floor with each successive pass from front to back. Apparently, I became so good at riding that horse that my dad always had me show any visitors how I did it. At one rather large family event held at our house, dad drug the spring contraption out to the patio and told me to take a ride. It wasn’t long before the entire family gathered around to watch the incredible Billy the Kid ride his stallion. It only took a few minutes before someone in the group started chanting, “go billy, go.” That’s all it took to get me moving back and forth faster and faster. “go billy, go. Go billy, go. Go Billy, go, Go Billy, Go. GO BILLY, GO!” It-was-like-a-drug. Now that I’m older, I don’t have a lot of people standing around cheering me to ‘Go Pastor Bill, go!’ but the Bible is full of people encouraging me to keep riding. The Apostle Paul, for instance, says, “Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.” (Colossians 2:6-7) Today, be encouraged that your time with Jesus has allowed you to sit firm in the saddle of Truth and that He is cheering for you to KEEP GOING!
