Trust & Obey Pt. 2

Do you obey everything In Gods Word? I think part of the problem with obedience is that it requires all of us to at some point do something we just don’t want to do. Obedience to God’s Word is so difficult for so many of us because that means we give up control. In fact, the Bible is very clear about that.
Look at Galatians 5:17, “For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.” So it makes sense that at some point every one of us will have a struggle with obeying God and allowing His Holy Spirit to move us. This is where the second verse I ever memorized comes into play, read this with me, “In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:6). It’s right here where we begin to see that once we submit to Gods Word, that God takes control. It is truly the Supernatural presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of a Believer that allows submission in the first place, and in the act of submitting and obeying God’s Word, the soul is then comforted and joy quickly follows. But I think a lot of Christians flip the two around, I think many of us have a desire to obey what we hear in Gods Word and even understand it, but we hesitate following it because we are waiting for our joy to catch up with our desire before we submit. We’re waiting for an emotional breakthrough or some sort of confirmation that we’re going to be ok instead of obeying first and leaving the results up to God. Remember, Jesus loves you and has a deep desire to move you closer to Himself. He may be asking you to do something or you may be doing something you know He doesn’t want you to do, so obey what He is asking. Why not leave the results of your obedience up to Him and see if your joy doesn’t increase!
